Project Description:
CityLights is a 7-week internship with a choice of ministry sites, mentoring relationships, and ministry populations: day camp for urban multi-ethnic and refugee children; faith-based housing development/construction; Refugee medical clinic and home visitation; refugee resettlement assistance with broad spectrum of recent arrivals, including Bosnian, Burmese, Liberian, Congolese (French speaking), Nepali, Somali, Berundi, and others; directing urban teens in work/mentorship program. We also are
SEEKING A MEDIA SPECIALIST W/ DIGITAL VIDEO PRODUCTION EXPERIENCE & A TALENTED WRITER/STORY TELLER FOR TEAM.
Activities:
Activites include study of history, culture, pathologies of the American city; mentorships; manuscript studies in Amos and Sermon on the Mount; small groups, worship; touring the city on your own & in groups; ministry partnerships and redemptive relationships; ethnic restaurants and museums; human & cultural treasures; an intimate relationship with a remarkable holistic multi-ethnic congregation composed of folk from nearly 30 nations who worship together in 4+ languages each week; discipleship in the liberating grace of the gospel; racial reconciliation; justice; mercy; and Christian community development.
Ministry Site:
Sites will vary depending on your interests, gifts, and mentorship choices. Most are in African-American, refugee, French or Spanish speaking urban communities. Some are in urban day camp settings, others on construction sites, refugee's homes and apartments, urban parks, or a free clinic.

Raising of Support:
Yes, upon receipt and acceptance of the completed application, a fund raising packet is sent. It is our goal that all qualified applicants be able to attend, no matter their financial resources. [Applicants must indicate when applying if they desire to raise additional support in order to receive a stipend upon completion of the project]
Living Situation:
All interns live together in community, in semi-private dorm rooms in a former boarding school in a blue-collar/working poor ethnic neighborhood. During first week of the internship, all interns live in inner-city homes or apartments of folk who are part of a very unique host church New City Fellowship (PCA) http://www.newcity.org/ [Students interested in this internship will find much helpful info at this site]
