Urbana 06 graffiti wall: What issues of the soul do students face on your campus?

At Urbana 06, StudentSoul.org set up a graffiti wall with three questions. One was “What issues of the soul do students face on your campus?” Here are some of the responses students wrote on the wall:

  • Do people need hope to be happy?

  • A lot are asking “Why?”

  • Where am I supposed to be?

  • Does all this “religion” stuff really deliver? Is it worth all the confusion?

  • How do you know that Jesus is God? Why should I sacrifice my current desires for a belief that is uncertain?

  • I told a student that Jesus gave me purpose in life. He said, “Why does life need purpose?”

  • The need for hope and for a greater purpose beyond making money and comfort — to be a part of something greater than themselves. And a need to see authentic faith — beyond what they hear about on the news. Despair and a sense of meaninglessness.
  • Where am I supposed to be?

  • “Take notice, you senseless ones among the people, you fools, when will you become wise? Does he who fashioned the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see? Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches human beings lack knowledge? The Lord knows all human plans, he knows that they are futile (Psalm 94:8-11).” My campus doesn’t see the futility of the plans of man.

  • Confusion.

  • All of these posts are true for my campus.
