Words Regretted
a poem

Tough words,
Rough words,
Spoken "off-the-cuff" words;

Mean words,
Spleen words,
Jealous "eyes-of-green" words;

Cut words,
"But" words,
Gossip "tut-tut-tut" words;

Quick words,
Sick words,
In-the-throat-they-stick words;

Bad words,
Sad words,
Make 'em "oh-so-mad" words;

Poke words,
Joke words,
"Sit-and-watch-'em smoke" words;

"Why?" words,
Sigh words,
Why-not-let-'em-die words;

Stop words!
Drop words!
All-the-unkind-slop words!

Zip my lip! Bloat my throat!

Please, O Lord, O please, please let
Me say no words
Which bring regret.
