InterVarsity staff Jennifer and Brian Murie have been encouraging students at University of North Florida to emulate Christ’s unconditional love for others on their campus in their day-to-day living. It was Valentine’s Day when Mike, an I-V student leader, spontaneously bought a single rose that caught his attention. The rose was so beautiful that he purchased it just to enjoy. Not much later he ran into an InterVarsity friend, Heather, who commented on his lovely rose. “It’s yours,” Mark said, passing his joy on to her.

In Heather’s next class, a classmate remarked, “I’ve never seen a rose that shade of pink.”

Heather responded quickly, “My friend gave it to me; now I’d like you to have it.”

Heather saw her classmate a few days later. She told Heather about her roommate who was visibly upset on that Valentine’s afternoon. One of her relatives had died. Unable to utter any words of comfort, she handed her roommate the rose.

Through a simple, lovely rose, Christ’s unconditional love was multiplied in Mark and Heather’s pattern of giving to those around them.
