Here are a few questions to help you assess your own prayer life and struggles with prayerlessness:

  1. Do you think it is necessary to set aside special times to pray? Why or why not?

  2. What rites of preparation for prayer do you use?

  3. What are the most common distractions to prayer that you struggle with?

  4. What strategies for dealing with distractions have you found most helpful?

  5. How much freedom do you feel to pray with your body?

  6. What sort of postures or gestures do you use?

  7. What sort of places draw you into prayer?

  8. How can these places become part of your regular discipline of prayer?

While these questions are meant to help you think through your own prayer life, feel free to share your insights! If you would like to tell others about something that has worked for you, go to our Talk to us! page. We may post some of what we hear from readers. Be sure to reference the "Combatting Prayerlessness" article in your post.
