At California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo we’re doing more than gettin’ jiggy with it—we’re leading people into real life with Jesus! Our JIG, or Jesus Investigation Group, is our version of an IBD (investigative Bible discussion). It’s a place where we can invite our seeking friends to study Scripture with us and investigate the claims of Jesus.

But as with dancing, to be serious about it you must practice your JIG. So practice we did. This spring eight students from Cal Poly begin practicing their JIGs on one another. Jesus Investigation Group Leaders Training (JIGLT) became a place to discuss seekers’ questions, address individual evangelistic needs, write study questions and lead JIGs for one another. By the end of the two hour weekly practice we had discussed Jim Peterson’s book Living Proof, talked about and prayed for our seeking friends and studied Scripture together in a JIG format.

At the end of JIGLT, after all the training, you must dance. And dance we did! We invited our seeking friends that we had been praying for to join us for our last JIG of the spring quarter. Two seeking students agreed to come, with one becoming a Christian just the night before! We had a great study looking at Jesus’ Resurrection and reaped wonderful dancing tips from our seeking friends in attendance.

Now these eight students are dancing as they are each attached to a specific residence hall and are leading out on the dance floor. Each of them is now equipped with six studies from John to lead their seeking friends through that they themselves have written. They have each learned to JIG and have their dance cards poised and ready. How about you? Is your dance card full? Go get JIGgy with your friends!
