Arranging blueprints of big barns
to catch the flood of coming corn,
computing stuff stored
for the future, he forgot that time
is not stored up like grain—
big barns buy no tomorrows.

His soul, required by him who
causes grain to grow, discerned
a question hanging over barns,
blueprints and miles of corn:

Whose shall these things be?

Lon Woodrum
