God blessed InterVarsity in 1999-2000 with another year of growth. For 11 consecutive years, overall student participation has increased. Here are a few highlights from across the country for the 1999-2000 school year:

  • Participation in chapters increased by more than 1,200 students, although the total number of chapters dropped slightly.

  • About one-third of all growth was concentrated in 49 large chapters.

  • Grad student involvement increased by 23 percent, attaining a new record.

  • International student participation increased 32 percent.

  • Short missions and urban ministry projects (under four weeks) grew by 19 percent and 28 percent, respectively.

  • More non-Christians now participate in chapters, even though the number of conversions is down 4 percent from 1998–99.

  • 61 percent of all chapter members are involved in a small group.

  • Asian-American and African-American student involvement both grew by 7 percent.
