Small Group Activities
Ideas to get you started
Here are a few small-group ideas for activities to try.

By now your small group members have had a chance to get to know each other and you've probably done some Bible study together. But what really helps a group bond are the things you do together as a group.

Each issue of Student Leadership includes stories of what people have done together in their groups, whether as a whole chapter or as a small group. Some are just for fun, and others are hard work. Here are a few more ideas we've heard about, and this list might trigger your own creative thinking:

  • Invite another small group to dinner.

  • If you meet in a residence hall, order pizza for the whole floor and have a party.

  • Offer to lead a floor program—the R.A. will appreciate this!

  • As a group, stop by the college president's office to say, "Hi, we really appreciate all you do. Can we be of service?"

  • Rake leaves and jump in them. Rake leaves for older community residents (see page 32).

  • Choose a service project. Approach local churches for ideas.

  • Invite international students to dinner, and enjoy hearing about other cultures.

  • Make up a name and a theme song for your small group.

  • Come up with a skit for your next large-group meeting.

Be sure to send us your ideas, and let us know how your activities turn out! You can contact us at slj@ivcf.org.
