Leaders are not all the same. God uses visionaries, strategists, re-engineers, managers and all other kinds of people and gifts. And when he puts teams together, the heart of it all is relationships—with him and with each other. Whether you’re an introvert or an extravert, a manager or a prayer warrior, you must become committed to what God is committed to, and that is relationships.
If you’re an introverted engineer type, you have to trust that you can hook your skills and motivations into a team that includes someone who can help you decide what needs to be designed and engineered. “Help! We need a system here!” “No problem,” comes the reply, “I can do that with my eyes closed. It’s so obvious!” Well, it’s not obvious to all. We all need each other.
We don’t always get to use all of our skills, but that will probably be just for the present. It takes the body of Christ to help us realize our fullest potential. That means learning what we have to give and accepting what others offer.
