Sola Fide

A Poem

Sola Fide

The skeptic says that all things

supernatural are explained

through the world around us.

He is right, you know.

For what God, giving us

freedom of choice, would

himself choose to clear the

lines of distinction?

And if those lines be cleared,

like stars that bleed their light

into the cold vastness of space,

his servants known by their happiness,

his enemies known by their sadness,

what need for faith?

But there is a fuzziness at work

in nature,the good given hardship,

the bad given ease,

that makes our faith its

own reward.

And those who test unfettered

freedom, like dysfunctioned children,

yearn for discipline and

rules to live by.
