Urbana 06 - Calling students to World EvangelismA N N U A L R E P O R T 2 0 0 7
At Urbana 06, thousands of participants committed to advancing the kingdom of God. Over 20,000 people attended Urbana 06, December 27-31,2006 in St. Louis, making it one of the largest Urbana conventions ever. The theme of Urbana 06, Live a Life Worthy of the Calling was derived from the book of Ephesians. Studying Ephesians provided students with a “big picture” view of God’s plan to bring all people into relationship with Him through Christ. By the end of the convention, all participants had experienced this profound book with their hearts and minds and heard the biblical mandate for cross-cultural missions. Each Urbana convention asks students to make missions commitments that continue to change their campus and the world for years to come. Many North American missionaries of the past sixty years remember their experience at an Urbana convention as the catalyst for their call to missions. Participants made the following commitments at Urbana 06:
“Has the gospel transformed you? I hope it will influence the way you look at other people. They need the Savior. And now, race, class, caste – are not a big deal. We are all one body in Christ Jesus.” Ajith Fernando’s exposition of Ephesians, Urbana 06
