A calendar for the year for staff trying to keep the fellowship on track to grow through all the opportunities and challenges of the year.

Chapter Builder’s Checklist

Note: This checklist is created for a chapter at a semester school which
has a statewide Fall Conference and goes to Chapter Camp in May.
Obviously, you will need to make adjustments based on your school’s
calendar and when your major conferences are held.

August

o Identify key campus objectives and key leaders you will want to meet with o Oversee (i.e. not “do”) NSO preparations and logistics o Touch base with key leaders, especially LGC re: speakers for first 4 meetings

September

o Ensure SG’s are set up and ready to go by first LG meeting; have list at first LG o Ensure high quality, high energy first LG meeting o NSO follow up: meet with each freshman (small chapter); ensure each student is followed up personally (larger chapter) o Begin fall retreat/conference recruiting (at LG’s and within SG’s) o Set up standing appointments and meetings with key students-current and future leaders

October

o Heavy fall conference recruiting . Weekly announcements at LG with sign up sheets . Offer incentives for first-time attenders . Ensure exec members (and other key influencers) are going o Small group census (and SGL pastoral check-up) o Evangelistic event/evangelism training

November

o Fall Conference follow-up meetings, esp. with frosh o Consider beginning a group for attenders of Level I (or its equivalent) o From SG Census data, list all leaders and potential leaders o SGL training workshop (recruit all people listed above) o Finalize plans for and begin promotion of GP/SLT/Spring Break Project/whatever

December

o Meet with graduating seniors o Set up 2nd semester SG’s (from list and training workshop) Chapter Builder’s Checklist (Second Semester)

January

o Ensure SG’s are set up and ready to go by first LG meeting o Begin Leadership Selection process o NSO II and follow-up o First Chapter Camp Announcement (in conjunction w/ launch of Leadership Selection process)

February

o Leadership Selection (Exec AND SGL’s) interviews o Begin Chapter Camp recruiting (in conjunction with Leadership Selection interviews)

March

o Begin regular, creative, high quality Chapter Camp Announcements o Finalize Exec and SGL selections; reiterate Camp expectations

April

o Heavy Chapter Camp recruiting . Weekly announcements at LG with sign-up sheets . Offer incentives for first-time attenders, “Don’t let money stand in the way.” . Ensure exec members (and other key influencers) are going o Spring SG Census o Fill out Annual Field Report o Meet with Graduating seniors o Meet with new Leadership Team (retreat?)

May

o Finalize Camp recruiting o Take care of NSO planning and logistics o Plan out and prepare materials for Chapter Camp o Set up Fall SG’s-leader, apprentice, 2 committed members
