Bible study discussion questions -- 2 Samuel 1 5 : 1 3 1 6 : 1 4
What's the overall feeling or mood of this passage?
Notice there are a half-dozen or so interactions, mostly between David and
some particular person in this passage. Use the following questions to dig into
each one:
Who says what to whom?
What's the gist of what's happening?
At this point, how does David seem to think the insurrection is going to
play out?
Who speaks truth, and what is that truth?
Who names the Lord (specifically using the name of Yahweh)?
What dimensions are in play: spiritual, political, emotional?
Of all these people who interact with David, whom do you wish you were?
Among these examples, how would you wish to interact with the hero, or with
God?
At the end of the day, as David tries to go to sleep, how does he feel? Has this
been a good day to look back on in any way? What regrets might he have, and
what cause for satisfaction?
These questions were drafted by Jon Boyd and first used in discussion at
MicroChurch (http://microchurch.org/) on February 2, 2006.
