GIG team
The GIG team is a response to the need for students to share the good news
of Jesus’ radical love to others. We have found that those who are set
apart to work solely on evangelism seldom do and those not set apart for
evangelism seldom work on evangelism. The result is little to no
evangelism. Our response is a hybrid GIG team that asks every leader to do
evangelism but only holds them accountable for shorter periods of time.
GIG team will consist of every leader but will be split into two parts
(active & nonactive) rotating on a 3-4 week schedule.
. 3 weeks active to focus on GIGs & Gospel,
. 3 weeks off to focus on building relationships
As potential leaders want to join leadership they become a part of the GIG
team permanently, go to their small group leaders’ cluster group and attend
collective leadership meetings.
Active Responsibilities
. Ask 3 people to do a GIG with you within 3 week period
. Do 1 GIG within 3 week period
Accountability
The accountability is not to guilt anyone but rather to testify to how God
is being faithful as we step out in faith to share Jesus with others.
The GIG vine- This is a visual testimony/reminder of what God is doing
through the group. It consists of a bear tree drawn on paper so that
“leaves” and “fruit” representing nonChristians can be added later.
. Give every active GIG leader 3 paper leaves to represent student those
leaders will ask to a GIG, once you invite a person you write their
name on the leaf then tape to vine.
. Give every GIG leader 1 paper “unripe fruit” to represent that person
you’ll do a GIG with, once you do a GIG with a person you write their
name on the “fruit” and tape to vine.
. Whenever someone converts we then place their name on a paper “ripe
fruit” to represent those who have converted to the faith.
Every week we will have a 5-10 minute GIG team report which will consist of
two testimonies:
1. anyone on duty can share of an experience in inviting, doing a GIG
or sharing the gospel
2. all active GIG team members will tape the names of those people
they asked to a GIG, done a GIG with or converted on a board. This
visual display will weekly remind us of our responsibility and
God’s faithfulness.
