InterVarsity employs 168 paid Asian American staff. Of these, 131 are campus staff. Of these 131 campus staff, 48 are in a leadership role of team leader or higher. We’ve almost tripled the number of Asian American staff in the last 10 years from 55.
InterVarsity serves 4,676 Asian American students (14% increase from 2006).
The majority, 2/3 of our Asian American students, are in multiethnic chapters.
1 out of 6 undergraduate InterVarsity students identify as Asian American.
1 out of 9 graduate students involved in InterVarsity's Graduate & Faculty Ministries (GFM) are Asian American.
In 1999, InterVarsity Press (our publishing arm) Publisher Bob Fryling, declared his intent for IVP to be the preeminent publisher of Asian American literature in the Christian world. Since then, IVP has published more books on Asian American themes and by Asian American authors than any other evangelical publishing company.
The Beginnings --

1979, InterVarsity recognizes its first Asian American Ministries coordinator, Nina Lau-Branson (pictured above)
1980, there were 698 Asian American students (2.5%) and a dozen Asian American staff involved in InterVarsity.
From 1982 to 1992, there was a 360% increase, when we grew from 788 to 2,837 (10.8% of all students).
1992, our Asian American staff numbers doubled to 26.
1997, our Asian American staff numbers doubled again to 55.
