This year we’ve noticed a lot of unhealthy, unsustainable patterns in life and ministry (in ourselves and in our students). As a result, there is a great spiritual tiredness. Our goal at this year's Fall Conference was to address some of the underlying causes: feeling the need to work for the approval of God and others, a very narrow view of how we can spend time with God, running from pain, shame and guilt, and loneliness.
On Saturday night, after I talked to students about opening ourselves up to God, a large number of students spent the next several hours in prayer, confessing some very difficult things and crying to God for healing.
Now we're praying and working to put into practice with them the things God spoke to us regarding grace, His goodness, and sabbath.
