Lives Changed

by: Link Staff in East Asia
Link staff in East Asia share witness of lives changed through knowledge of Jesus Christ
2007-06-28

T. started coming to FCS in April and is probably one of the smartest students I have met here. This semester, week after week he came to FCS and got into hot debate with the staff and students over all sorts of issues from the existence of God to the validity of scripture. (by the way…his name in English means "solid soldier"!) In May, T. attended our new student retreat for non-believers. The theme of the retreat seemed to fit him very well, "Surpassing all knowledge, the love of God". Coming into the retreat, his heart was very hard. As he said, "I believe, but it's very difficult to believe because I have an internal battle with the 17 years of Marxist, Atheist, and Buddhist philosophy ingrained in me." But God still brought him there. Day by day his heart began to soften to God's grace. And by the last evening, he was weeping and crying out to be freed from the strongholds in his life and to receive Jesus. It was a wonderful thing to see the change in his life over a few days! O. has been coming to FCS for the last year and a half. He was in my small group this last semester and is one the students that I am closest with. He suffers from loneliness, depression and a lot of wounds from his past. We encouraged him to attend our "Inner Healing" retreat from 6/11-16, with the theme "Come to the Father". The retreat was set up with the first few days being a fairly introspective look at the pain and sin in our lives. They were difficult days. But the last few days were looking at what Christ has accomplished for us, and who we now are in Him, as freed and forgiven children. It was a powerful retreat. Over the course of the week I saw O. open himself up to others and to the Lord's fatherly love.
