A Plentiful Harvest in Eurasia, But Workers are Few
2007-01-19
“And seeing the multitudes, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast like sheep without a sheperd. Then he said to His disciples: ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.’” (Matt.9:36-38)
It seems like these verses from Matthew describe the very core of what’s going on in the student world today. The numbers are outrageous, the souls are weary, lost and harassed, the harvest is ready but the workers are still few. The picture is quite overwhelming when you look at the Eurasia region which consists of 12 countries, out of which only 5 allow freedom of sharing the Good News, and 3 still do not have a national student movement. Praise the Lord, the IFES has 192 staff workers and almost 3000 students and graduates involved in the region! But the harvest is plentiful and we desperately need prayer and more laborers!
There are currently 7 Link Staff in Eurasia. More are needed in Russia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Siberia and Ukraine. To find out more about the IFES in Eurasia go to www.ifesworld.org or contact us at link@intervarsity.org.
