There is an open invitation from IFES East Asia to pioneer in the 9 East Asian countries which have no student work.
International Student Ministry (ISM) Internship- A two-year internship program designed to prepare recent grads for longer-term service with a specific people group in Asia with Link. Continue in ministry among Asian students by becoming an intern with an InterVarsity ISM chapter in the U.S. Focus will be on reaching a specific Asian population of students, learning their culture and language, learning about world missions, and starting the fund development process. Be supervised by an InterVarsity staff in a team context.
InterVarsity Link Internship- A one-year program designed to expand ministry, language and cross-cultural skills while reaching a particular population of Asian students. Learn and serve under the direction of Link staff. Research the country’s history and contemporary issues in missions, develop spiritual disciplines, discover spiritual gifts, and disciple new believers on a campus in Asia. Host a Global Project with your Link teammates. One internship position begins Fall, 2008 and a second internship position will begin in February, 2009. (Having done a Global Project in East Asia prior to this Internship is a prerequisite.)
Brunei- Needs experienced staff or staff team to pioneer student ministry.
Hong Kong- 1-2 Cantonese-speaking experienced staff are needed.
Singapore- Staff are needed to develop groups and national leadership.
Korea- Three staff positions need filling:
-staff to work on national team,
-staff to teach ESL to Korean staff and families preparing for mission work,
-staff to minister among internationals.
Japan- Japanese-speaking staff who are able to work independently are needed.
Malaysia- Staff are needed to pioneer international student ministry.
Mongolia – Experienced staff are needed to train and to work on national teams.
All of these opportunities require a demonstrated cross-cultural calling and the ability and willingness for language-learning.
