Air Travel
For longer distances of travel, travel by air is safe and economical. For information look in the Yellow Pages of the telephone directory under "Air Line Companies" or "Travel Agencies," or on the web. Several airline companies maintain web sites that give fares and flight information about all airlines. See http://ual.com or http://aal.com.
You may be surprised at how many different airline companies there are in the USA, especially if you come from a country that has one national airline. All airline companies in the USA are independent.
Travel agencies will help you find the flights and fares you need and do not charge for their services. Sometimes an agency will be able to help you find the lowest fare. Be sure to ask for the lowest fare, because travel agencies are not required to give the lowest fare.
Most campuses have special student travel offices and are able to help you with student fares. Some airline companies will eMail you special "E-Fares" each week, if you sign up with them.
If you find that you fly often, you should inquire about a "frequent flyer" program, which rewards you with a free flight after you have flown a certain number of miles.
