Do you remember the early days of Greek InterVarsity? It all began at Purdue, Indiana University and the University of Illinois. In the Fall of 1991, while Mindy Meier was in Illinois, Ted McMullen and I started knocking on doors of fraternities and sororities in Indiana looking for students who were interested in something called a Bible study. Did either of us help start one in your house? Cedar Campus in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is a camp where students come for a week (or more) of training in Bible study and leadership. Greeks first went to camp in May of 1992. Perhaps you remember the hike through the forest to Narnia?
The first annual Greek Conference was held at the St. Vincent Martin House in Indianapolis in January of 1994. Around 130 Greek students attended despite a blizzard that dumped 10” of snow. It was the first time a group of Greeks realized that not only was it OK to be a Christian in the Greek system, but that there were lots of other Christians who also wanted to live for God while being Greek. Greek IV is nearing 18 years of ministry with Greek students.
These charts show how the ministry has grown:
How to Get Involved
As you can see, God is at work in the Greek system! As the Alumni
Relations director, I want to see our thousands of alumni give back to Greek IV by praying, serving and financially giving to staff and Greek students.
Please consider the following ways to get involved:
- Go to http://greekiv.org/go/update and update your contact info
- Email us at alumni@greekiv.org to update any of your
friends who are Greek IV alumni.
- Contact the campus staff at your Alma mater (by going
to Locate a Staff) about your interest to partner
through prayer, giving and/or volunteering.
We need our alumni to partner with us as we continue to
reach Greeks for Christ. Will you help?
