What will FC08 scholarships cover?

FC08 scholarships will cover Day Ahead and main conference registration costs, up to the full amount minus the registration deposits ($30.00 for the Day Ahead, $75.00 for main conference). All scholarships are need-based.

Who may apply for a scholarship to attend Following Christ 2008?

All program delegates are eligible to apply. Meals-only participants are not eligible.

Is there any scholarship money available to cover travel or lodging expenses?

Following Christ 2008 scholarship money cannot be applied towards travel or lodging expenses. However, some Graduate & Faculty Ministries chapters are raising funds separately to assist students and faculty with these costs. Please contact your GFM campus staff worker for further details. If you are not connected to a GFM chapter, then please contact the Scholarships Officer to obtain contact information.

How do I apply for a scholarship?

You can apply for a scholarship at three different stages:

1. Before registering for the conference (and before paying the non-refundable registration deposit)
2. During your conference registration. The scholarship application appears during online registration (but you must pay a non-refundable registration deposit when you register for the conference)
3. After you have registered for the conference, but before you’ve paid in full

We recommend that you complete your scholarship application prior to conference registration, but if you have already begun registering for the conference and paid your deposit, you can still apply for a scholarship. Please follow the instructions below that are specific to your stage in the registration process. Please note that scholarships cannot be awarded if you have already paid in full.

A. If you have not yet registered for the conference:

1. Go to the online scholarship application and select “Continue as a new user.”
2. Complete your scholarship application.
3. When asked to create an online account, please do so, and remember your login information. (You’ll use it to log in later when you actually register for the conference.)

B. If you’re registering for the conference and would like to complete your scholarship application at the same time:

1. Go to the online registration system for FC08
2. As you proceed through registration, be sure to fill out the scholarship application section when prompted.

C. If you have already registered for the conference and paid your deposit, but have not paid in full:

1. Go to the online scholarship application and select “Login to existing account.”
2. Select your name.
3. Complete your scholarship application.

D. If you and your spouse are both applying for scholarships (both attending as program delegates):

1. If neither of you has yet to register for the conference, then one of you should apply for a scholarship, following the instructions for item A above. Be sure to create an account as requested and remember the login information.
2. After you have completed your application, your spouse should go to the scholarship application form, and log in using the information for the account you just created. Your spouse will need to add themselves as a new participant (there will be a question to this effect) and then apply for a scholarship as well.
3. If one of you has already registered for the conference, paid a deposit and created an online account, then follow instructions for item C above. Log in to the scholarship application form as an existing user, and follow the steps above. Your spouse will also need to log in and be added as an additional participant in order to apply for a scholarship (if not yet registered).

How will I know if I have received a scholarship?

You will receive a message via email from the FC08 Scholarships Officer, Paula McCosh. This will provide further instructions on how to proceed.
