Open Positions at HOPE International
HOPE International is currently looking to hire two qualified individuals for two unique and exciting positions. The Director of Strategic Investments will be based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with significant time spent travelling
internationally and domestically. The Community Development and Savings-Led Program Advisor will be based in Kigali, Rwanda. Both are salaried positions.
Director of Strategic Investments
Summary: HOPE International is seeking an exceptional individual for an unprecedented opportunity. This individual will have a significant
influence in how Christ-centered international development to the
world's poor is done. As Director of Strategic Investments, this
high-level individual will work within HOPE to advise a major
philanthropic investor in how to effectively give several million
dollars per year to multiple international ministries (outside of those of
HOPE itself). The Director of Strategic Investments, in conjunction
with this major donor, will also seek to help these international
ministries non-financially through advice, coaching, and mentoring.
Background of position: In the past two years, this leading Christian
donor has recognized the potential impact his giving could have
internationally and has decided to focus on international development.
He recently wrote, "For many of us, the challenges in many third world
countries are overwhelming. Poverty, AIDS, tribal warfare — the
enormity of the challenges can be numbing and many of us choose not to
engage in their problems... It is easy to turn a blind eye when the
problem seems beyond our grasp and control. Yet each life, whether it's
in Rwanda or the Dominican Republic, is just as precious as a life in
the United States. In God's economy, we should care for all of our
brothers." This donor recognized that giving internationally is vitally
important, but that it is inherently more complicated than giving in the
places we live; it takes more time to scan the globe and find the best
Christian international development projects. Through an existing
relationship with HOPE, this donor requested that HOPE identify an
employee that would work within HOPE, but advise him on discovering
additional international giving options.

Community Development and Savings-Led Program Advisor
HOPE International is seeking an individual to coordinate a new
savings-led microfinance initiative in Kigali, Rwanda. This individual
will work directly with the local Anglican church partner and alongside
"promoters," training and coaching them on savings-led group formation
and management using sound community development principles and
practices. Additionally, this indivudal will assist HOPE partners
(Urwego-Opportunity Bank) in identifying areas of interest and readiness
of linking groups to the MFI through evaluation and assessments and will
provide support to other HOPE country programs as they seek to implement
similar strategies as that of Rwanda's community development savings-led
groups.
