Open for Business Report
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship hosted its first Urbana Missions Convention in 1946. Through the work of God's Spirit at Urbana since then, over 220,000 students have heard God's mandate to share the gospel worldwide, making Urbana one of the key venues through which God has mobilized North Americans to global missions. Nearly 23,000 delegates attended Urbana 06, held this past December 27-31, 2006, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Open for Business — a conference for 1,200 business students, faculty, and practitioners — was hosted at Urbana 06 and offered an integrated experience with the main Urbana convention, connecting God's general call to missions to delegates' specific passion for business. At Open for Business, we explored how Christians are identifying incredible opportunities for business to be a force for economic, social, and spiritual vitality, changing both individual lives and entire communities — and we invited delegates to invest themselves in this movement.
