Faculty Symposium Planning Guide: Registration Timelines
| A Faculty Symposium is one of the most effective ways to gather together Christian faculty on your campus, and the event often pays dividends far beyond its immediate impact. This Planning Guide will help you hold a symposium on your campus. Use the directory to the Guide on the right to navigate to the section you need. |
We have several systems and procedures in place to help you promote, run, and evaluate a successful symposium event. Please read the following carefully, especially noting the given deadlines and timelines. Anyone may host their own symposium using this guide, but if you would like to take advantage of the tools below and promote your event as an InterVarsity Faculty Ministry Symposium there are a few guidelines we ask you to follow.
All requests and questions should be directed to Rachel Bawden.
- Online Registration and electronic payment: Make your attendees’ lives easier by letting them register and pay online. The registration site will link to your symposium website, which you can create on your own or which we can create at your request. Doing this will save you time and simplify event administration, and will help us provide faculty with resources and connect them to the ministry nationally by inviting them to receive the Faculty Ministry Newsletter, receive the triennial Faculty Survey (to help us all improve faculty ministry), and join the Emerging Scholars Network. For full instructions and requirements, please see the Registration Set-Up Checklist. You will need to submit the information needed for online registration no later than one month before your event, though we recommend that you set up registration at least two to six months before the event.
- Electronic Evaluation Form: The results will be available for you to use in your planning to improve the quality of future symposia. In order to ensure that you have an evaluation in place, you will need to request this at the time of your registration request. Please note that we will not honor a request for an evaluation at the close of your event. Click here for an example of an evaluation. You may tailor this form to your specific symposium. We will create the evaluation form for you, and you can send it by email to your attendees.
- Walk Up Registrants: We want to ensure that every registrant is accounted for in our database. Please send us a list of all symposium attendees that registered outside of the registration system onsite.
A limited number of grants up to $500 each are available for Faculty Symposia. For more information on Symposium Grants, click here.
