Faculty Symposium Planning Guide
| A Faculty Symposium is one of the most effective ways to gather together Christian faculty on your campus, and the event often pays dividends far beyond its immediate impact. This Planning Guide will help you hold a symposium on your campus. Use the directory to the Guide on the right to navigate to the section you need. |
Introduction
Welcome to the Faculty Symposium Planning Guide, developed by InterVarsity Faculty Ministry!
Congratulations on hosting a Faculty Symposium. There will be lots of hard work, but the experience can be very rewarding as well as beneficial to your ministry for years to come as faculty and graduate students (future faculty!) gather to be encouraged in their calling and their walk with the Lord.
We’ve created this Planning Guide to ease the time, energy, and sweat needed to create your symposium. We interviewed past organizers and gathered their valuable insights to help you learn from their successes and avoid potential pitfalls. We hope you will find it informative and useful as you consider hosting your own symposium. We’ve also provide sample documents to help your planning.
As you meet with your planning team, we hope this Planning Guide will:
- Show you all of the resources and support available to you through InterVarsity Faculty Ministry.
- Prevent your team from starting from scratch.
- Allow your team to spend more time on your main focus and less on administrative functions.
As you review this Planning Guide and work on laying out your symposium, please feel free to give us feedback as to how these tools can be improved to better meet your needs.
Questions? If you have questions along the way, please don’t hesitate to contact Nancy Vuolo.
