Nan Thomas
Spiritual Formation Coordinator
Jackson, TN
Nancy Flack Thomas currently serves on the Faculty Ministry Leadership Team of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, with a particular focus on spiritual formation and discipleship. For seven years, she has also served as the Associate Director of Faculty Development, and ocassional adjunct professor of political science, at Union University, a Christian liberal arts university in West Tennessee.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Nan received a Masters of Arts degree in American Politics from The Ohio State University. After working as a policy aid in the Ohio Governor’s Office for several years, she joined InterVarsity staff and developed a ministry to graduate students and faculty at OSU.
Nan has been fortunate to always work part time… giving her daily opportunities for reading and gardening. She enjoys novels, especially classic tragedies that reveal the human condition and our need for grace. Her favorites include Tess of the d’Urbervilles, Light in August, and Giants in the Earth. The writings of Bonhoeffer, Lewis, Henri Nouwen, and the Apostle Paul have been the most formative throughout her faith journey. She and her husband David, a Professor of American History, have two sons in college and a daughter in high school. They make their home in Jackson, Tennessee where the growing season lasts for nine months of the year.
