Kenny Benge
Associate Director, South Central Region
Franklin, TN
In addition to Kenny’s service as Associate Director for Faculty Ministry for the South Central region, he currently has direct ministry roles working with Vanderbilt faculty and with the Christian Business Fellowship at the Owen School of Management. He is an ordained priest in the Anglican Mission in North America and serves part-time as an Assisting Pastor at Church of the Redeemer (Anglican) in Nashville, Tennessee.
Kenny Benge graduated in 1980 from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and worked in the petroleum industry before entering vocational ministry. He completed the Master of Divinity at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, with a concentration in Church History. Kenny and his wife Laura are both originally from Oklahoma, but their family has lived in middle Tennessee since 1995. They have four college and high school age children. Laura has been a partner in ministry all the years of their marriage, and she currently works in development for New Hope Academy, a Christ-centered community school in Franklin, Tennessee that exists to serve low-income families.
C.S. Lewis, Francis Schaeffer, and Eugene Peterson were formative influences in Kenny’s spiritual and vocational development. He loves being in the outdoors, is an avid “birder” (a serious bird-watcher), and enjoys playing golf (currently a 12 handicap). He is an enthusiastic reader, mainly of novels and theology. Some of his current favorite authors are Wallace Stegner, Annie Dillard, Wendell Berry, P.D. James, T.F. Torrance, and Albert Borgmann. Thanks to DVR technology, he rarely misses the current episodes of Battlestar Galactica, Friday Night Lights, 30 Rock, or The Office.
