Doug Jackson
Associate Director, Northeast Region
Rochester, NY
Douglas Jackson has joined the Faculty Ministry Leadership Team as Associate Director for the Northeast region as of March 1, 2009. Although he is the new kid on the block, IVCF is an old friend, having made a significant contribution to his spiritual formation and ministry experience through his undergraduate and seminary years. Doug’s completed his undergraduate work in physics at Union College in Schenectady, NY. His seminary training at Dallas Theological Seminary was focused on NT literature and exegesis with a strong secondary interest in OT studies and biblical theology. Later, he was able to pursue his research interests through doctoral studies in Sweden and Norway directed towards aspects of modern hermeneutics and metaphor theory. Doug’s life in ministry has been centered on teaching, primarily in the area of OT studies. As an ordained minister commissioned to work in cross-cultural contexts, he spent 20 years in missions, with 18 of those years focused on teaching in Sweden.
Joining InterVarsity’s Graduate and Facutly Ministries seems like a natural next step in ministry. Connecting with a community of people passionate to bring the values of the Kingdom of God to greater and enduring influence, in the midst of those dedicated to learning, research and change in our world, seems like the natural extension of both calling and vocation for Doug. To balance out life a bit, Doug enjoys reading in areas related to his core values and key disciplines as well as backpacking, golf, music and travel.
Doug makes his home in Rochester, NY with his wife, Lin. They have been blessed with 4 talented children. Their first grandchild, Camden Alexander, is a delight to the whole family.
