Transforming Culture
Dates: Apr 1, 2008 - Apr 3, 2008
A Vision for the Church and the Arts
From the conference website:
This symposium will bring together pastors, church leaders, and artists to discuss the church's relation to the arts and to artists. We will focus our discussion on three areas:
- Art and the worship of the church
- Artists and the community of the church
- Art and the mission of the church in the renewal culture
If you are interested in exploring the ways in which we can encourage a more theologically informed, biblically grounded, liturgically sensitive, artistically alive, and missionally shrewd vision for the church and the arts, then we welcome you to join us April 1-3, 2008, for a lively and enriching conversation.
On the speaker roster are:
- Jeremy Begbie, associate principal of Ridley Hall, Cambridge, and an affiliated lecturer in the faculty of divinity, University of Cambridge
- Andy Crouch, editorial director for The Christian Vision Project at Christianity Today International
- Barbara Nicolosi, MA in film from Northwestern University, a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts, and a consultant on many film and television projects
- Eugene Peterson, author and formerly the James M. Houston Professor of Spiritual Theology at Regent College
- David Taylor, an arts minister at Hope Chapel in Austin, Texas
- John Witvliet, director of the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship and associate professor of music and worship at Calvin College and Calvin Theological Seminary, respectively
