The Redemption of Reason 2007
Dates: Nov 1, 2007 - Nov 3, 2007
Intentional Christian Scholars in Conversation with the Bible, Theology, Philosophy, and the Academic Disciplines
From the conference website:
The overall program this year for redeeming reason opens with biblical principles for redeeming reason, presented by J. Richard Middleton on October 19. The main conference, held from November 1-3, 2007, is then opened by "practitioners," two scholars who have been working the problem of redeeming reason for many years, Jean Bethke Elshtain and Roger Lundin. They are then followed by philosopher Kelly James Clark and by two theologians, Timothy Larsen and Vincent Bacote. The conference ends with the work of a number of practitioners, students and new faculty, beginning to work the problem of redeeming reason.
In a very real sense, this work never ends. There is always more to learn about biblical, theological, and philosophical principles for redeeming reason. In addition, there are all the other disciplines and intellectual activities where these principles can and must be worked out in the lives of people all across the world, combined with the fact that new knowledge in all areas of intellectual life presents new challenges for redeeming reason in every day and age. We hope to hear from at least two more speakers, one each in the winter and spring quarters, who are practitioners of redeeming reason in other intellectual enterprises.
