Wheaton College is sponsoring a conference, "Scripture and the Disciplines — Setting a New Agenda: The Bible in Dialogue with the Academy."

From the conference's mission statement: "Evangelicals are united in their commitment to the truthfulness and final authority of the Bible. Nevertheless, progress in bringing the biblical witness to bear, appropriately and fruitfully, on the academic disciplines has been sadly limited. To address this problem, this conference is offering the opportunity for Christian scholars across the humanities and social sciences disciplines to dialogue with their colleagues in Biblical and Theological Studies to promote uses of Scripture in scholarship that go beyond both simplistic, reductive proof-texting and vaguely thematic appropriations of Scripture."
