Redeeming Reason
Dates: Nov 3, 2005 - Nov 5, 2005
Hosted by: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
In 1998, Dallas Willard presented a lecture titled "The Redemption of Reason" at Biola University. This lecture is of great value as a starting point in the broader discussion about the interplay between faith and reason, and it serves as the impetus for this conference: "Redeeming Reason: Intentional Christian Scholars in Conversation with
the Secular Mindset Today."
For Dr. Willard the "redemption of reason" is an ongoing task and the constant responsibility of Jesus' disciples. He will develop this topic as the conference's keynote speaker, joined by several others, including:
- Albert Alschuler, professor at the University of Chicago Law School
- Charles Emmerich, professor of political science at Trinity Christian College
- Susan Emmerich, who teaches biology and environmental science at Trinity Christian College
- Philip Gleason, professor emeritus in history at the University of Notre Dame
- Paul Griffiths, Schmitt Professor of Catholic Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago
- George Marsden, professor of history the University of Notre Dame
- Cornelius Plantinga, president of Calvin Theological Seminary
