Telos 2006: Witness in the Postmodern Academy Dates: Feb 24, 2006 - Feb 26, 2006
From the conference brochure:
Join us as we consider . . .
How can I communicate what I believe in a compelling but appropriate way?
What is the difference between Christian witness and proselytism?
How do we speak about truth in a postmodern context?
How do we respond to hostility to our faith?
Universities in the United States are, arguably, the most multicultural communities in this country. This cultural diversity is accompanied by a variety of religions and worldviews. Of course, the academy remains the historic domain of secularism as well. Many of our peers are steadfastly committed to the modern and postmodern idolatries of scientism, relativism, and globalization.
Dr. Vinoth Ramachandra, our retreat speaker, is uniquely qualified to speak into this context. His writing, including Recovering Mission, Gods that Fails, and Faiths in Conflict, regularly addresses the intersection of the world's major religions and the Great Commission of Jesus. Ramachandra will serve as our guide to understanding the uniqueness of Christ in the midst of disparate faiths and to giving grace-filled witness with integrity to the Good News of the Kingdom of God.
The cost to attend the retreat, if registering before February 3, is $120. After February 3, the cost is $140.
