Christian Academic Fellowship of Duquesne University is delighted to invite you to a public lecture by Dr. Terence Nichols: "Religious belief has been challenged by those who claim that science is incompatible with religion."
Dr. Nichols argues that far from undermining belief, current work in science fits well with Christian faith. Dr. Nichols is the chair of the Department of Theology at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, and has written The Sacred Cosmos: Christian Faith and the Challenge of Naturalism, which demonstrates that the world is infused with life greater than that arising from naturalistic processes. Two chapters toward the end of the book focus on the nature of the soul and specifically how God interacts with the universe. Dr. Nichols will use insights from the book to address the challenge of naturalism and show how religious belief provides a more encompassing and accurate view of reality than naturalism.
The lecture will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2006, in Pappert Lecture Hall of the Bayer Learning Center at Duquesne University. It is free and open to the public.
