Francis Collins at OSU
Date: Nov 14, 2007
As one of the world's leading scientists, Dr. Francis Collins, director of the Human Genome Project, has personally discovered some of the scientific evidence for the common descent of all living creatures. Yet, he is also a man of unshakable faith in God and Scripture, believing that God cares about us and can intervene in human affairs. He has worked on methods of crossing large stretches of DNA to identify disease genes, coining the term "positional cloning." Incorporating his faith, Collins proposes a new synthesis, a new way to think about an active, caring God who created mankind through evolutionary processes. He calls this BioLogos — life through the Word. His book, The Language of God, is currently in its eighth printing and had a seven-week run on the New York Times best-seller list.
