Student Mission and the Christian Mind

This summer Canada is hosting a significant international gathering of Christians. The World Assembly of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) is meeting July 11-20, 2007, in Ancaster, Ontario. Since it last met in Canada at Glen Orchard, Ontario, in 1956, this worldwide movement has seen spectacular growth. At the 2007 World Assembly, there will be 650 delegates from 152 countries. IFES is an evangelical success story. And Canada has played a significant role in that growth.

To celebrate this event and place it in its historical context, Tyndale and the Religious & Theological Students Fellowship have planned the symposium "Engaging the University: Student Mission and the Christian Mind." The symposuim which will be held July 4-6, 2007, will bring in a galaxy of evangelical scholars from five continents to discuss roots and fruits: roots as we trace the historical development of student ministry and evangelical mission to the university particularly during the twentieth century, and fruits as we consider how we as academics can responsibly address our culture today with authenticity as Christians committed to making historic Christianity speak with clarity and integrity to our contemporary culture.

• Kelly Monroe Kullberg, Veritas Forum, out of Harvard
• Dahlia Fraser, Symposium Coordinator and author of Evangelical Rediscovery of the University, an InterVarsity Press title to be released at the symposium
• Daniel Bourdanné, incoming IFES General Secretary
