2010 West Coast Faculty Conference (Campus by the Sea, California)
Dates: Aug 1, 2010 - Aug 6, 2010
Hosted by: InterVarsity Faculty Ministry

Campus by the Sea

Update (8/2/10): Registration is now closed for the 2010 West Coast Faculty Conference.

Want to invite others? You can download a printable brochure (PDF, 220KB) if you’d like to share the information with others.

The West Coast Faculty Conference will return to Campus by the Sea August 1-6, 2010. Our featured speaker, Dr. Terry Morrison, shares more about our topic:

“Spiritual Formation is easier said than done. Yet Jesus clearly summed up the Father’s will – even for academics: “Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, mind and strength, and love your neighbor as much as you love yourself.”

So we’ll ask the questions: “Formation into what?” and “What is ‘Spiritual’?” I’ll give some real life examples of academics who are living this out and we’ll look at resources that could help us to develop in Spiritual Formation.”

Please reserve this week for yourself and join us for Bible study and small groups as well as opportunities to rest, play or visit with friends and family with no formal program. You will also be able to enjoy all the unique and fun activities that Campus by the Sea affords, including hiking, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and water skiing. Both faculty and families alike enjoyed the 2009 West Coast Conference and we hope to see many of our guests again next summer. Won’t you join us?

We aim to make our Faculty Conference family-friendly. Spouses are welcome to attend all of our sessions. Child care and children’s programs are planned. But we would also be eager to welcome faculty who are single or married without children to join us.

About Our Speaker

Terry Morrison

Dr. Terry Morrison, Ph.D., Syracuse University, former professor of chemistry at Butler University, joined the staff of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in 1974. He has held many different leadership roles within the organization, most recently, Director of Faculty Ministries from 1990 – 2004. Since becoming the Director of Faculty Ministries Emeritus in January, 2004, Terry has continued an active ministry of speaking and visiting faculty groups around the US. He is a Fellow of the American Scientific Affiliation, a Wilberforce Fellow, and serves on the Board of Care of Creation and chairs the Board of IFES/USA, Inc. Terry has spoken and taught courses on various aspects of the university curriculum and life, specializing in Science and Christian faith discussions.

Terry lives in Madison, WI with his wife, Shirley. They are the parents of three adult children and two grandchildren. Shirley is an accomplished church musician and music teacher. Together they enjoy leading others in worshipping God with their minds, hearts and souls through hymn sings. You’ll come away from time with Terry and Shirley having appreciated interesting conversation, their gift of hospitality, and their commitment to prayer and building God’s kingdom.

Called Together Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
