What's Happening?
What's happening these days in the Emerging Scholars Network?
Several ESN members have asked us questions along these lines.
So we want to update you with some information about projects
that are rolling or in the works. We have our sights on specific
ways to help you ask and answer four questions: Why,
What, How and Who? Some of the things we are working on
include:
-
Developing a mentoring program to put developing scholars
and more mature scholars in relationship to provide direction,
counsel, review, and encouragement.
-
Numerous partnerships with
other organizations as well as home-grown initiatives to
provide academic opportunities for ESN members, including
essay contests, fellowships for graduate students, and
career opportunities.
-
A discussion forum where
ESN members can interact with one another and share ideas
and real-world applications (now live).
-
Ways for ESN members to identify others in their discipline,
university, or geographical region (now available by submitting
a Networking
Query).
-
Ever-increasing members-only web resources keyed to the "Four
Questions," published regularly, including book
reviews, best practices, discussion guides, and bibliographies.
-
A quarterly email newsletter, the ESN News, to
keep you updated on the latest developments in the Network.
-
ESN conferences, or ESN meetings dovetailed with other
academic conferences.
-
Forging more partnerships to provide ESN members with
additional benefits and
discounts to aid in scholarly pursuits.
As these opportunities come to fruition and become available
we will let you know here at EmergingScholars.org. So please
keep us in view, particularly the ESN front
page and Features page.
(Keep in mind, too, the larger constellation of Graduate & Faculty
Ministries sites.)
Finally, please let us know of other ways we may serve you
in the years ahead — either by contacting
us directly or by participating in the online forum, ESN
Discussions.
