Faculty Conference 2008
Dates: Jun 21, 2008 - Jun 27, 2008
Hosted by: InterVarsity Faculty Ministry

The 2008 Midwest Faculty Conference is now past, and it was a wonderful event. You can read a recap of the conference and learn early details about next year’s date and speaker here. We will also soon post audio and video from the 2008 plenary sessions.

A Conference for Christian Faculty

Spiritual Formation and the Academic Life

Aerial view of InterVarsity's Cedar Campus.

Purpose: An opportunity to interact with other faculty and gain a more profound grasp of Christian truth by:

  • Deepening our personal and spiritual lives.
  • Advancing Christian witness in the academic community.
  • Enriching our practice of vocation as academics under the Lordship of Christ to the glory of God.

Our conference will offer unhurried time for relaxation and recreation in the beautiful setting of Cedar Campus on the shore of Lake Huron, conversation and community with faculty peers, intellectual stimulation, and social merriment. Indeed, we expect that this week will make for the very best sort of vacation! We welcome families to attend and offer outstanding programming for children.

Program

The Faculty Conference program will include lectures and discussion of our theme led by various guest presenters, daily prayer and small-group Bible study discussions, and seminars. It is our goal and desire to honor the highest standards of the academic vocation and to explore the deepest needs of the human heart.

The program will include an optional seminar led by Dallas Willard and Stan Wallace, Director of Faculty Ministry, entitled “Naturalism and Some Implications.” We ask that those who wish to participate in the seminar read the two following articles prior to their arrival:

Presenters

Dallas Willard, University of Southern California

Kelly Monroe Kullberg, The Veritas Forum founder

Mary Poplin, Claremont Graduate University

Terry Morrison, Director Emeritus, InterVarsity Faculty Ministry
