Plenary Session Personnel
We're very pleased to have presented a distinguished group of keynote speakers,
biblical expositors, and liturgists for the FC'02 plenary sessions. (Take a
look at
the
conference schedule to see when these sessions occurred.)
Speakers
Delivering our opening address was Mark Labberton.
Dr. Labberton is the senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley,
California.
On each of the four main days of the conference, we heard biblical expositions
from a team comprising:
Marva Dawn
Dr. Dawn is a theologian, author, musician, and educator with Christians
Equipped for Ministry of Vancouver, Washington, and Teaching Fellow in
Spiritual Theology at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia. You
can listen to Dr. Dawn's recent talk, "Corrupted
Words Reclaimed," delivered in January at Calvin College.
Vinoth Ramachandra
Dr. Ramachandra is the Secretary for Dialogue and Social Engagement
in Asia for the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students.
He lives in Sri Lanka with his wife Karin.
Harold Dean Trulear
Dr. Trulear is the senior pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Twin
Oaks, Pennsylvania. He is also a visiting professor of Urban Ministry
and Public Policy at Drew University and a member of the faculty of the
Center for Urban Theological Studies in Philadelphia.
Miroslav Volf
Dr. Volf is the Henry B. Wright Professor of Systematic Theology at the
Yale Divinity School and a visiting professor of Systematic Theology at
the Evangelical-Theological Faculty, Osijek, in his native Croatia.
On the final evening, we heard a closing address from Dallas
Willard (who also led the Ideas
and Idols track at FC'02). Dr. Willard is a professor of philosophy
at USC and is well known for his books, including The
Spirit of the Disciplines, The
Divine Conspiracy, and Hearing
God.
Conference Liturgists
Andy Crouch
Andy is the editor of Re:generation
Quarterly, a magazine that equips the emerging generation to transform
their world. He formerly worked with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at
Harvard University.
Stephanie Seefeldt
Stephanie serves as the Worship Pastor for Blackhawk Evangelical Free Church
in Madison, Wisconsin. She led worship at the first Following Christ conference
in 1998.
Emcee
Greg Jao
Greg is InterVarsity's Divisional Director for Northern Illinois and Northwest
Indiana. He is also a lawyer and a trivia opponent not to be trifled with.
He served as emcee during the first Following Christ conference in 1998
in Chicago and stayed admirably calm during the Blizzard of the Century.
Also on the podium at various times were After
Hours Arts performers and Story Night speakers, and a host of others.
