Resolutions for Change that Sticks
At InterVarsity, we long to see lasting change in ourselves, on campuses, and throughout the world. That’s why we value practices that help us know Jesus more deeply—because he’s the one who keeps transforming us into people who love and give and care more deeply.
He’s been changing people for years—since the beginning of humanity. Over and over again, in the Bible and in history and on campuses today, we see Jesus fulfilling people’s longing for change.
He changed Moses, a fiery-tempered young man, into one of the greatest leaders in history.
He changed Peter, an uneducated, uncouth fisherman, into a revolutionary leader of the church.
He changed Francis, a wealthy, self-centered soldier, into a friar who gave his life to caring for others.
He changed “Jack” (a.k.a. C. S. Lewis), a staunch atheist, into a profoundly influential Christian theologian.
He changed Sarah, a self-described 17-year-old witch entrenched in the occult, into a lover of Jesus.
How does he do it?
Through gentleness and power. Through intimate knowledge of each of us. Through forgiveness and healing and truth.
As we spend time with Jesus, talking with him and listening to him, he changes us—often slowly, over time—into people who truly love:
enemies,
justice,
creation,
the poor,
the uneducated,
ourselves,
the foreigner,
the arrogant,
the wealthy.
If you are hoping and longing for deep change that sticks, explore our Bible study resources, talk with Jesus in prayer, or find an InterVarsity chapter on your campus so that you can gather with others longing for change as well.
