Jesus Came So We Go

For over seventy years, InterVarsity has faithfully ministered in the mission fields of this nation’s college campuses and universities, planting Christian witnessing communities and preparing young disciples of Jesus to help transform the world.

Our evangelistic mission is confined to the campus.  “We are called to be a redeeming influence among the people, ideas, and structures of the campus,” says InterVarsity’s President Alec Hill.  How we perform our calling is always subject to God’s Word in the Bible.  Our Core Values are based on biblical principles.

As the birth of Jesus changed human history, so the gospel of his life, death, and resurrection is transforming students through InterVarsity’s campus communities.  Following Christ’s model of inviting men and women to new life, InterVarsity invites students to follow Jesus by offering them small group Bible studies, community worship experiences, and missions projects of compassionate service. 

“During my time at UCLA, InterVarsity Bruin Christian Fellowship definitely served as a place of spiritual growth and support.  I’m thankful for the friendships and great experience I had in community and all the opportunities I had to grow as a leader,” said InterVarsity alumni Marcia Garcia.

Our 893 InterVarsity communities on 576 campuses are reaching students of every ethnicity.  For five consecutive years the number of students participating in our campus activities has grown, and we are planting new InterVarsity communities at schools throughout the United States. Last year, 4,001 international students attended our evangelistic events.

We help students prepare for vocations that change this world for the better by offering local, regional, and national conferences—such as the Urbana Student Missions Conference.

This year through our Urbana Conference during the last week of December in St. Louis, Missouri, we will call over 17,000 students to follow Jesus by committing their lives to God’s global mission.  (To learn more about Urbana 12, please visit www.Urbana.org .)

InterVarsity rejoices in the birth of Jesus Christ.  We call individuals to know and follow Jesus.  We train students and faculty to share the Gospel in creative ways.  And we prepare people of every ethnicity to develop as leaders called to change the world. 

As Jesus came to serve humanity, so we go on campus to serve students and faculty.
