More detailed information:
»
Astronomy - While "the heavens declare the glory of God" (Ps 19) the relative lack of city glow at night amplifies the effect. Celestial displays can be breathtaking in the wilderness, and Prentiss Bay is no exception.
»
Ecology - This beautiful and mainly pristine environment is a great space to observe created systems interacting - live and over time.
»
Fauna - Many of God's creatures - small and not so small - make their homes in the Les Cheneaux Islands area. It's "moose and spruce" habitat - without the moose.
»
Flora - The vast majority of Cedar's 500 acres is covered by some form of vegetation in season - when not covered in snow.
»
Geology - Have we got rocks - from limestone slabs and pitted boulders to the variety of stones ground smooth by the waves.
»
Weather - When Isaac Watts sang to God, "clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne"...he wasn't thinking of Cedar Campus. But we frequently experience the Lord's creativity in weather conditions, precipitation and the results.
»
Spring - During April and May, the Les Cheneaux Islands area thaws and returns to an extraordinarily hospitable climate fostering new beginnings.
»
Summer - From June through August, everything thrives. Summer may be especially wonderful when it falls on a weekend, but we usually see more of it than that.
»
Fall - September to November marks the decline from peak temperatures and production toward dormancy. The dominant evergreens keep autumn colors subdued in much of the area.
»
Winter - In December and until March, Inner Prentiss Bay usually freezes over. The surrounding woodlands, marshes and fields become a winter wonderland accessible in different ways.
