PRAY FOR . . .
Students and Families
This past Summer 1,338 students took part in Chapter Focus Week and/or IVLI and 269 families joined us for one of twelve different Family Camps (nine hosted by Cedar Campus). Pray that the seeds that were planted, and the times of refreshment and renewal they experienced, would continue to bear fruit 30, 60, and 100 fold.
Summer Servants 2009
To serve our guests this past Summer we had 78 Summer Crew and 13 Interns join the year-round staff and families. Pray that as they return to college, jobs, and/or their homes, God would bless them in their endeavors.
God’s Guidance
From November 1-3 the Cedar full time staff will be going on their annual Staff Retreat. At this year’s retreat we’ll evaluate the Summer and continue to work on a Master Plan. Pray for God’s guidance as the 10 staff “reflect back” and “look forward."
House Party 2009!
Once again we will host our annual International House Party, Dec. 27 – Jan 2. Pray for the staff, students, and speaker, Terrell Smith (GFM Great Lakes West). May God shine the light of His salvation on the minds and hearts of students attending this special retreat!
PRAISE FOR . . .
Volunteers – Fall 2009
This Fall we will have more than 75 people from six different groups and numerous families help the Cedar Campus staff “close down” from the Summer Program, as well as tackle numerous projects around the grounds:
- Ward Presbyterian Church / Detroit, MI (2 groups)
- Bauer Christian Reformed Church / Hudsonville, MI
- Forest Grove Reformed Church / Hudsonville, MI
- Covenant Church / Cheboygan, MI
- Kalamazoo Gospel Mission / Kalamazoo, MI
We thank You Lord for all that was accomplished, and for allowing pleasant weather and safety for the volunteers. What a blessing to have this gift of extra servants to assist with programs and projects!
New Programs for Summer 2009
We are so thankful for two new programs that proved to be very well received: Creation Care and HomeSchool Family Camp Week! Under the guidance of Elliot Nelson (Summer Intern) numerous Family Campers and students experienced God’s creation in unique ways. And from August 22 – 28 eight families took part in the first HomeSchool Camp at Cedar Campus. Pastor Dave & Deb Collins led the families through the book of Philippians, and Mike & Therese Cooper served as Program Directors.
InterVarsity Leadership Institute (alias S.L.T.)
This past Summer we experienced a 20% increase in the number of students attending IVLI (2008: 69 students; 2009: 84 students). Although the increase was significant – and we praise God for His provision – we hope to see another 20% for Summer 2010.
God’s Protection
Since the beginning of the year, Cedar Campus has seen 5,134 guests. Last year at this same time there were 5,151. During these difficult economic times, God brought families and students! We are also thankful for the safety we experienced this past Summer, and praise God for continuing to provide a safe place for people to meet God and be Renewed!
Pray that God would be glorified at Cedar Campus!
