Year-round recreation options
Opportunities to be re-creative
With about 500 acres and miles of Lake Huron shoreline, Cedar Campus is an exceptionally beautiful and unspoiled environment. One of the benefits of spending time here is getting away from your usual surroundings and enjoying the nature that God has created.
In your free time there are trails to hike, volleyball, basketball, swimming in the pool, wading in the lake, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and fishing. A library of books and tapes and some nearby attractions are available year-round. Winter activities include cross-country skiing, ice skating, broomball, winter volleyball - and napping in front of a cozy wood stove.
The swimming pool and boats (sunfish sailboats, kayaks, canoes and rowboats) are available for use within certain regulations regarding time and supervision. Waterfront and pool regulations are enforced, and a copy of these rules is available upon arrival or by request in advance.
Seasonal wildlife are plentiful, from waterfowl and birds to water- and land-based mammals. Bring or borrow some binoculars, or sketch and identify the animal tracks underfoot. Among the flora, seasonal wildflowers wait to be enjoyed. And on a clear night, the Milky Way puts on a show occasionally outdone by the northern lights. (Customized sky charts and satellite schedules are available.)
