Annual Report
Last school year, InterVarsity students and faculty used some particularly creative methods to evangelize campuses. Among those successful methods were Proxe stations—artistically designed kiosks—to initiate conversations about the gospel, a goat-petting area to stimulate discussions about poverty and world hunger, and an outdoor barbeque to foster deeper relationships among commuting students. InterVarsity's 2008-2009 Annual Report illustrates how InterVarsity is reaching students and faculty through conversations, service projects, and conferences. The Red DotDuring the last school year, many InterVarsity chapters created Proxe stations with intriguing displays about personal and social issues. Through conversation, InterVarsity students shared God's concern for these issues and invited their non-Christian classmates to respond. Planting and Building Witnessing CommunitiesIntervarsity staff and students developed a number of new witnessing communities among internationals, commuters, and multiethnic groups, and strengthened overall the outreach and personal growth of existing chapters. Challenging Students at Prestigious CollegesAt prestigious universities such as Harvard and Stanford, InterVarsity graduate students responded to the call to leadership on campus, working alongside non-Christian classmates to rebuild homes in New Orleans, raise funds for needy populations, and grapple with life's most profound questions through forums co-sponsored by InterVarsity and Veritas Forums. Events and Conferences that Transform LivesThousands of students attended InterVarsity conferences last year, connecting with other Christians of similar college majors and social interests. Many students decided to follow Jesus, while others renewed their purpose amid InterVarsity's community of believers.
