 Jim Tebbe joined InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in 2002 to become the Director of Urbana 03, InterVarsity’s triennial mission convention, held in December 2003 at the University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana. He also directed Urbana 06, held in December 2006 at The America's Center and the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.
Jim moved to InterVarsity from Interserve, an international, interdenominational fellowship ministering throughout South and Central Asia and the Middle East. He pastored international churches in Pakistan and Bangladesh before joining the Christian Study Center in Pakistan, a resource for the Christian churches in that country in the areas of the culture and religion of Islam. In 1992, Jim was appointed Interserve’s International Director.
He did his undergraduate work at Indiana University, where he was President of the InterVarsity chapter. He received a M.Div. from Gordon Conwell Seminary, an MA in Near Eastern Studies/Islamics from Princeton, and a Ph.D. from St. John’s College in Nottingham, England.
Jim is married to Beth, who joins her husband in working in the Madison, Wisconsin based headquarters of InterVarsity. They have four children. back
