Karon Morton

Karon was born in Santa Monica, CA and grew up learning all aspects of ETronics, the electronic manufacturing business her parents owned and operated. Karon was co-manager of the business in the early 1970s.

She came to faith in Christ in 1973 through the college ministry of Bel Air Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, and as a result highly values the ministry of college students to college students. She was active in the college group leadership team for seven years, and was on the church staff for three years, frequently serving with college ministry directors who were current or former InterVarsity staff.

Karon earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a Journalism minor from California State University, Northridge. While working on her degree Karon also did contract and office management for Econergy, an energy consulting firm working on Dept. of Energy contracts.

In 1980 Karon joined InterVarsity as Registrar for Washington 80 and Urbana 81. In 1982 she became Urbana Operations Director, serving Urbana’s ’84, ’87, ’90, ’93, ’96, and 2000 in that role. In addition she was Director of the Conference Services Department of InterVarsity in the 1980’s. She has also served as Associate Director of Urbana, Operations Director of Missions, and Senior Associate Director of Missions and Urbana. Since 1997, Karon has served as Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. In this role, she oversees support service areas including General Services, Donation Services, Accounting, Information Services, Human Resources, Web Store, Legal, and InterVarsity’s retreat and training centers: Campus by the Sea, Beartrap Ranch, Cedar Campus and Toah Nipi.

Andy, Karon’s husband, is a biologist who works in Water Resource Management for the Department of Natural Resources for the State of Wisconsin. The Mortons live in Madison with their two sons, Scott and Jon, and attend Blackhawk Evangelical Free Church.
